Weekend Planner: Farmer’s Market

June 25, 2010

Living in the city, getting fresh produce is always a challenge. Yes, there are grocery stores all over, but it’s not the same as when I was living in a more rural area, with farm stands all around. Farmers Markets fill that void for me. Chicagoland is chock full of markets. I have several favorites including:

In order to full enjoy the farmers market, you should make sure to dress appropriately. I refer, of course, to shoes. This is one time where heels might not be the best idea. Clockwise from top left:

  1. Sequins make regular chucks look special. $63.75 at converse.com.
  2. Cute little bows make this an awesomely adorable flat sandal. $16.70 at urbanog.com.
  3. These are kind of wacky, but they caught my eye. I would wear these, grab some lunch from the market and take it down to the lake shore. $29.99 at Spring.
  4. Channel some goddess with these Roman-inspired sandals. Kelsi Dagger from Endless for $84.95.
  5. Buy some flowers and get inspired by the petal-shaped cutouts on these Marc by Marc Jacobs flats from Zappos for $204.

Don’t forget about the one at the MCA on Tuesdays! It’s still my favorite and if you have time you can always look at the art!
