Lace Up to Save Lives

December 1, 2009

December 1 is World AIDS day.

In honor of this, I’ve worn my ruby slippers today.

but that’s not the important part of my post today….

Some facts:

10% of the world’s population is in Africa yet she’s home to 67% of all HIV cases.

It costs around 40 cents a day for the 2 pills that are needed to help keep someone with HIV alive.

33 million people in world have HIV. 22 million live in Africa.

How can you help?

Here’s a hint: if I’m talking about it, then it must involve shoes.

And it does!

Nike has teamed up with (RED) and launched (NIKE) RED in 13 countries around the world. Nike has created Nike (PRODUCT) RED laces – designed to fight AIDS in Africa. 100% of the profits go to the Global Fund and to Nike soccer-based programs.

At $4 (USD) a set, this charitable act won’t cost you a fortune. You can buy them here.

As part of the “Lace Up Save Lives” You can learn more about the partnership on Nike’s website.
